OUR COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
At Böden Hotel & Spa, AKEN SOUL, we view sustainability as a way of living in the world around us with consciousness.
We promote concrete initiatives that reduce our environmental impact, encourage responsible consumption, and support a form of hospitality in harmony with the surrounding environment.
Bronze Certification | Hoteles Más Verdes
We are part of Hoteles Más Verdes, a program that recognizes the effective implementation of a sustainable management system across every dimension of the hotel experience. Our commitment fosters environmental care, conscious engagement with the community, and respect for the destination we inhabit.
What is Hoteles Más Verdes?
It is a hotel sustainability program developed by the Asociación de Hoteles de Turismo de la República Argentina (AHT), validated by IRAM and recognized by the Ministerio de Turismo de la Nación.
At an international level, it is endorsed by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), positioning it among the most relevant standards in sustainable tourism.
ACTIONS
Solar Power Generation
The energy of the sun not only surrounds us, it becomes an active part of the experience. We have incorporated a solar power generation system, operating under Argentina’s Distributed Generation Law, which transforms our spaces into a source of clean energy.
Responsible Infrastructure
Our solar carports extend the hotel’s architectural concept into a new function: to protect while generating. With capacity for 50 vehicles, this space transforms the parking area into an active energy hub, optimizing land use without intervening in natural areas.
Solar Technology
We work with solar panels capable of capturing both direct and reflected light from the environment. This technology increases energy efficiency by 5% to 15% compared to traditional systems, optimizing every ray of sunlight across an installed capacity of 160 kWp.
Conscious Mobility
We offer two electric vehicle charging stations. Each delivers 22 kW of power, allowing guests to efficiently recharge their vehicles during their stay.
Energy Self-Sufficiency
Our system generates approximately 250 MWh annually, representing close to 25% of the hotel’s total electricity consumption. This means that guest rooms, the spa, climate systems, and common areas operate using energy generated on-site.
Measurable Impact
Each year, this allows us to:
- Avoid the emission of more than 100 tons of CO₂
- Generate energy equivalent to the consumption of more than 80 households
- Reduce our environmental footprint in a concrete and measurable way
During periods of low occupancy or high solar radiation, when production exceeds demand, surplus energy is fed back into the public grid of the Province of Córdoba.
An Ongoing Commitment
We monitor each process in real time to ensure efficiency, traceability, and transparency.
We believe in a form of hospitality that evolves, adapts, and finds new ways to coexist in balance with nature.
Animal Welfare
By 2030, we aim for 100% of the eggs used in our preparations to come from cage-free systems. In partnership with the NGO Sinergia Animal, we embrace this commitment as part of our respect for the environment, considering the origin, processes, and impact of every ingredient.
Why is it important?
Argentina has the highest per capita egg consumption in the world. However, a large portion of production still relies on battery cage systems, where hens live in confined conditions that limit their welfare and natural behavior.
Health Implications
Studies indicate that cage-based production systems present a higher presence of bacteria such as Salmonella. Additionally, the intensive use of antibiotics in these systems contributes to antimicrobial resistance, one of the major global public health challenges.
Measurable Impact
Transitioning to cage-free systems allows us to:
- Improve animal welfare
- Reduce health risks
- Promote a more responsible food production model
